About the Bursary Programme

 

The DEA is offering Bursaries for the 2027 Academic year to students pursuing environmental and conservation-related qualifications.

Eligibility Requirements

 

To be considered for the DEA Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship

  • Completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor's pass (minimum 60% in Science and English)

  • Accepted or currently enrolled at a recognized South African university

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Strong academic record with minimum 65% average

  • Must be passionate about environmental conservation and sustainability

  • Not in receipt of any other government-funded bursary

 

Required Documents

 

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document

  • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate

  • Full academic record (if currently studying)

  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a recognized institution

  • A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A motivational letter detailing your interest in environmental science

  • Proof of household income (parents'/guardians' payslips or affidavit)
