About HPCSA

 

The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) is a statutory body that regulates health professions in South Africa. It oversees the training and practice of healthcare professionals.

 

About the Bursary Programme

 

The HPCSA is offering Bursaries for the 2027 Academic year to students pursuing health science qualifications. Full bursaries are available for students committed to public service.

  • Pharmacy

  • Dentistry

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

To be considered for the HPCSA Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship

  • Completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor's pass (minimum 60% in Life Sciences, Mathematics, and English)

  • Accepted or currently enrolled at a recognized South African university for a health science qualification

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Strong academic record with minimum 65% average

  • Must be willing to work in underserved communities after graduation

  • Not in receipt of any other government-funded bursary

 

Required Documents

 

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document

  • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate

  • Full academic record (if currently studying)

  • Proof of acceptance or registration at a recognized university

  • A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A motivational letter explaining your passion for healthcare

  • Proof of household income (parents'/guardians' payslips or affidavit)
