About the SANDF

 

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is the military force of South Africa. It comprises the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Military Health Service.

 

About the Bursary Programme

 

The SANDF is offering Bursaries for the 2027 Academic year to students who wish to pursue studies in military-related fields. The fully funded bursary includes a salary and guaranteed employment.

  • Military Engineering

  • Medicine and Health Sciences

  • Aviation

  • Logistics

 

Eligibility Requirements

 

To be considered for the SANDF Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • South African citizenship (no dual citizenship)

  • Completed Grade 12 with a Bachelor's pass

  • Must be between 18 and 22 years of age

  • Must be medically and psychologically fit for military service

  • No criminal record

  • Must be willing to serve in the military after graduation (service obligation)

  • Not in receipt of any other government-funded bursary

 

Required Documents

 

Applicants must submit the following documents with their application:

  • Certified copy of South African ID document

  • Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate

  • Full academic record (if currently studying)

  • Proof of acceptance at a recognized tertiary institution

  • Medical fitness certificate from a government hospital

  • A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)

  • A motivational letter stating your desire to serve in the military
